McKellar | Issue 5
Issue #5 marked the first time that McKellar featured a photograph on its cover. The image of the starter’s huts at Royal St. George’s was by the late Anthony Edgeworth, heralding a 10-page retrospective of the work of the greatest golf photographer of his era. Entertaining pieces abound in this issue, led by Lawrence Donegan’s scathing and hilarious view of the world of American competitive junior golf. Mike Clayton’s “Dispatches from Melbourne”, a collection of architectural anecdotes and aphorisms from the Sandbelt, is similarly witty yet truthful. Tony Dear nailed a compelling feature on the arcane topic of the history of model-making in golf course design. And, of course, we got the second half of Dan Davies’ profile of Bill Longmuir.
