Founders Stories 03 | Tom Reed, Terrace Edition

When and where did you launch Terrace Edition?

Terrace Edition was launched in September 2022, firstly as a website and then a print magazine

Who are the founders of Terrace Edition and what are their day to day roles now? 

Terrace Edition was founded by Tom Reed, experienced writer and photographer on football fan culture matters, who remains as Editor. We are a collective of writers and photographers so have various contributors. Our principle photographers are Mike Bayly, Han Balk and Sam Wainwright. All we really ask for in terms of images is just to have an eye for a shot and to write with a bit of soul. There's a few rinsing the fan culture scene at the moment for commercial gain who we avoid like the plague to be honest.

What was your motivation for starting Terrace Edition?

We just want to produce words and images on football with a little feeling.

Do you have a favourite piece of content from your issues published to date? Why is it your favourite?

Mike Bayly's football landscapes are beautiful, while Han Balk captures pyrotechnics in a way which is so hard to do. Sam's portraits are raw and honest, he's a Millwall fan so knows how suffering.

What would be your bucket list story/interview/profile/event to cover?

We've featured a few stories from some cool Argentinians called 'Groundspotters' so it would be good to go over there to some lesser known grounds. Huracan's Tomás Adolfo Ducó Stadium is the one.

What do your 2024 plans look like? Are there any projects you are especially excited about?

We have some really nice photobooks planned for the Summer break, but will hopefully head out to the Euros. We follow our noses as much as possible and just see what happens. Issue 3 of the mag will also happen and is looking decent. Keep an eye on our socials @TerraceEdition to see what we've been up to.

Our mates at Glory Magazine are producing the best football magazine in the world at the moment so check them out. The Cultured Football newsletter is also thoughtfully put together and hand-picks interesting articles.
